About Desi Next
Founded in 2017, DesiNext provides a platform for the next-generation South Asian community in New York. Reflecting the rapid growth of Indian immigration to the U.S. — a ten-fold rise from ~200,000 in 1980 to ~2 million in 2013 — our work centers on the evolving needs and interests of young Desis. We reimagine traditional South Asian community organizations to better serve this generation through culture, connection, and community impact.
DesiNext, supported by the Association of Indians in America (AIA), is building a vibrant community for young South Asians. Through cultural celebrations, networking, mentorship, and service projects, we connect tradition with today—supporting each other, amplifying voices, and giving back. From holiday parties and charity 5Ks to Garba nights, we’re creating spaces where heritage, friendship, and impact thrive.
